Janice Smith, Director

Email: Janice@fitlearningstl.com

As director and owner of Fit Learning St. Louis, Janice brings more than fifteen years of experience in the field of behavior science and education. She previously worked as an administrator for Special School District of St. Louis County, leading a team of behavior analysts and attending dozens of IEP meetings in her capacity as an area coordinator. During a ten-year residency in mid-Missouri she diversified her experience by providing behavioral support services in a university-based clinic setting, family homes, private schools, residential treatment placements, and day care centers (and nurtured her love for documentary film at the True/False film festival held annually in Columbia, MO).

She graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (where she met her husband) before obtaining her master’s degree in behavioral science from the University of Nevada-Reno. A former foster parent, Janice served on the board of directors of Heart of Missouri CASA and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri. She has two daughters.

Why I Launched Fit Learning St. Louis

I am passionate about Fit Learning because of our noble cause to change educational practices around the world and the mission to transform the learning abilities of every student who walks through our doors. Fit Learning’s core values—of science, fun, and transformation—culminates in our drive to be impeccable in every aspect of the business. It is easy for me to appreciate that Fit Learning offers the best opportunity to be impactful in the lives of children; no one is better at transforming education.

Meet our Staff

Katie Harris, Outcomes Coordinator

“You always hear people say that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. I feel beyond lucky to have found my place at the Fit Learning St. Louis Lab! Seeing the true transformation and fun we bring to each learner’s success is the most rewarding experience.

I have long had a passion for teaching and could be found telling my parents, "Watch out, you're stepping on my students!" during imaginative play as a child. I enjoy getting to coach learners every day and laughing so hard that I cry with my amazing co-workers. I moved to St. Louis (from Thibodaux, Louisiana) about 2 years ago. I love reading books, going for walks around the lake, eating mochi, drinking bubble tea and watching murder mystery shows on Netflix.“

In addition to her role as Outcomes Coordinator, Katie Harris is a certified learning coach in math, reading, logic, and 'lil fits. She earned her master’s degree in applied behavior analysis from Lindenwood University. A career highlight for Katie was presenting an academic poster at Women in Behavior Analysis - WIBA 2019!

Katie is pictured here with Dr. Carl Binder at the 2018 Missouri Association for Behavior Analysis's annual conference. Carl Binder studied with B.F. Skinner at Harvard, serves on the board of the Standard Celeration Society, and co-founded The Performance Thinking Network. Dr. Binder was also instrumental in the evolution of Fit Learning! What an honor to meet such a global leader in the field of behavioral science.

Coach Katie Harris attended the 2019 Women in Behavior Analysis Conference in Nashville with two of Fit Learning's Founding Directors, Dr. Kimberly Nix Berens and Dr. Nick Berens.

Katie attended the ACT Bootcamp for Behavior Analysts in Reno, Nevada in 2019. Here she is pictured with Dr. Tim Fuller, Director at Fit Learning Reno and case advisor for the St. Louis lab.

Imogen Davies, Certified Learning Coach

I love to learn and grow through helping others and being at Fit is exactly that. When I heard about Fit Learning and about what an awesome place it is, I said, 'Sign me up!' Being able to see the learners transform and succeed brings a massive smile to my face and makes me love what I do even more. Fit Learning is everything I imagined it to be! It's a place where we all get to learn but also have fun at the same time. What could be better than that!"

Imogen is originally from the UK, and moved to the U.S. in 2010, originally settling in San Diego. She recently graduated from Lindenwood University in May of 2020. While a full-time student, Imogen received a scholarship in rugby, which she played for 8 years. Before Fit Learning, Imogen worked with a variety of people including individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, and Alzheimer's. When not at Fit Learning, Imogen loves to FaceTime her family, drink some tea, and play with her cat, Mungo.

Megan Ballor, Learning Coach Intern

Over the past 15 years, I have worked in the field of behavioral science as a behavior therapist. I have had the privilege to work with countless individuals across several states and numerous settings. I have seen firsthand how the proper application of behavioral science can not only transform the lives of the individuals that I worked with, but their families as well.

Fit Learning combines my love of behavioral science and education, which feeds my intellectual curiosity and desire to be socially contributive. I am privileged to be a part of the Fit Learning team and their mission to transform the learning abilities of every child that walks through their doors!

I received my undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in special education and recently earned my master's degree in applied behavior analysis from Saint Louis University. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, hiking, biking, playing sand volleyball, and reading.

 Jessica Nassau, Certified Learning Coach

Jessica Nassau attends Washington University and is studying Psychology and Children's Studies. She is passionate about working with children and promoting the education of all types of learners! She has had the opportunity to work with children in a variety of settings as a camp counselor, nanny, and tutor back home in Rhode Island. Fit Learning is the perfect place for her to gain experience utilizing the psychological principles of behavioral analysis to help kids develop strategies to improve their reading, logic, math, and other academic skills!

After she graduates, she hopes to pursue a future that combines her interests in psychology and education. While Jessica is not at Fit Learning, she enjoys playing guitar, painting, and soaking up the beauty of Forest Park!
