Fit Learning Assessments

Most tutoring starts with whatever a student is struggling with right now. Fit Learning starts further back — with a comprehensive, subject-by-subject evaluation that measures your child’s skills at the foundational level, not just the surface level.

The assessment typically takes 2-3 hours per curriculum area and covers the component skills that underlie academic performance: phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, computation, reasoning, and more. When it’s complete, you’ll receive a detailed report and a one-on-one walkthrough of the findings. This provides you with a clear picture of exactly where your child is, where the gaps are, and what needs to happen next.

There’s no obligation to enroll. The assessment is valuable on its own, whether you choose Fit Learning or not.

Fit Progress Monitoring

Once your child is enrolled, you should never have to wonder whether it’s working. Fit’s progress monitoring gives you a concrete, ongoing picture of your child’s growth — not just impressions or report card grades, but measurable data tracked session by session.

Using norm-referenced measurements such as curriculum-based measurement (CBM) tools, we assess your child’s performance in core areas at regular intervals throughout their enrollment. You’ll receive progress reports after sessions 15 and 30, and our learning coaches use the data in real time to adjust instruction when needed. If something isn’t clicking, we know quickly and we act on it.

This is one of the things that most distinguishes Fit from traditional tutoring: every decision about your child’s instruction is driven by data, not guesswork.

Fit Learning Consultations

Not every family is ready to jump straight into a full enrollment, and that’s completely understandable. A Fit Learning consultation is the right starting point if you’re still weighing your options, trying to understand your child’s needs, or looking for expert guidance before making a decision.

During a consultation, one of our learning experts will review your child’s academic history, discuss your concerns, and help you understand what a Fit enrollment would look like for your specific learner. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of the path forward — whether that’s enrolling at Fit, pursuing a formal assessment first, or exploring other options.

Consultations are also a good fit for families whose child has already been assessed elsewhere and who want a second perspective on how to interpret the results and what to do next.
